How we protect and handle your data with transparency and care

This Privacy Policy describes how Small Block LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our AI-powered economic development platform and services ("Services"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our Services, to communicate with you, and to manage our business operations. The types of information we collect include:

A. Information Provided by You (Client Data)

This refers to data you or your organization (e.g., Economic Development Organizations, government agencies, private investors) as commercial customer upload, submit, or otherwise provide to use the core functionality of the Services and through circumstances in which your or your organization are a commercial customer with us.

  • Account and Contact Data: Name, email address, phone number, job title, and organization details required for registration and billing.
  • Proprietary Context Data: Economic, demographic, infrastructural, strategic, or financial data specific to your locality, projects, or investment targets.
  • Communications Data: Records of your interactions with us, including customer support requests and feedback.
  • Audio, Video, and Screen Recordings: If you participate in beta testing, feedback sessions, or support calls, we may record interactions to improve product functionality.

B. Information Collected Automatically (Usage Data)

When you access the Services, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information.

  • Technical Data: IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
  • Activity Data: Details about how you use the Service, including access times, pages viewed, features used, and search queries within the platform.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We do not set cookies on visitors by default and we do not show a cookie banner. Cookies are used only for administrator login sessions and to mark our own team's internal traffic. Some pages use your browser's session or local storage, for example to keep a random session ID for usage events on the workbench pages or to remember that you finished an on-page tour; you can clear these at any time in your browser settings. We measure page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies.

C. Information from Public and Third-Party Sources

We collect data from publicly available sources (e.g., municipal bond databases like EMMA, the National Park Service, census bureaus, and publicly available financial records) and third-party data providers. We may combine this information with the data you provide to enhance the accuracy of our predictive models.

D. Information You Send Through the Small Block Platform

You can use the Small Block platform at smallblock.co/one without an account. You do not need to give us any personal information to look around or to build a template.

  • While you work: the platform keeps your choices and what you type into its forms, including names and email addresses, in your browser's session storage for that tab, so your work survives a refresh. It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and is cleared when you close the tab.
  • When you send a form: when you complete and send a form, such as a beta waitlist sign-up, a beta access request, a Small Block Access request or a go-live checklist request, we receive what you entered and store it in our database. We record which form it came from and when it was sent. We do not store your IP address or browser details with it.
  • Information about other people: some forms let you enter another person's name and email address, such as a partner's. We store it only as part of your request. We do not share it, and we do not email that person.
  • How we use it: only to respond to your request. Only the Small Block team can see what you send.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Provision of Services

To operate, maintain, and provide all features of the Services, including generating AI-powered strategies, pattern-matching, and investment identification.

AI Model Development

We use aggregated, de-identified, and anonymized data to train, refine, and improve our proprietary AI models while protecting your specific information.

Communication & Support

To send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages, and to respond to your questions and requests.

Security & Compliance

To detect, prevent, and address fraud, unauthorized access, and other malicious activity, and to enforce our Terms of Use.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only with the following parties under strict guidelines:

Service Providers

Trusted third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, payment processing, and analytics.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect our rights, property, or ensure user safety.

Business Transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to a successor entity.
